Recently we had the pleasure of exploring Sunshine Coast Glamping accommodation when we met Karen from Sunshine Glamping Co.
We reached out to see if we could have a chat, and find out more about this unusual business she operates.
From the moment we arrived at her warehouse, we were greeted like old friends. Karen’s joy in all things luxury camping clearly extends to meeting people who just want a glimpse of how she spends her working hours, (and many more besides!)
Glamping on the Sunshine Coast is an absolutely brilliant, much-needed idea. But before we get into her business and how it all works, let’s meet Karen.
A part-time teacher and co-owner of Sunshine Glamping Co., Karen’s passion is all things camping. In fact, her ultimate dream is to own and operate a camping ground. Something a little different from the average camping grounds around though. She sees a place with luxury options and a done-for-you kind of model. Somewhere you could just arrive, enjoy a week’s camping and head off again without that awful camping hangover.

Get home after your holiday. Unpack the tent, set it up in the back garden to wash off any remnants of kiddie’s sticky fingers, or remove the mounds of sand left by enthusiastic family members’ shoes. Then the hours spent unpacking all the gear, airing, washing, folding, packing… anyway for those of you who are campers, you get the idea.

Unfortunately, for now, Karen’s campsite dream stays just that. However, luckily for the rest of us, in order to itch that camp site vision, Karen decided to find another way. So, she is providing the luxury camping experience but as a popup model instead, thus removing the need for her own location for now.
Think 40th birthday parties, a girls weekend camping on a friends property or unique and elegant wedding accommodation.
One story Karen shared was of a young man wanting to set the scene for the ultimate wedding proposal. Sadly, his intended location let him down at the last moment. So, up stepped Grandma who offered her front lawn as a solution. Sunshine Glamping Co. got to work and set up the most romantic setting imaginable. And to quote Karen, “luckily she said yes!”
Now please don’t misunderstand what I mean when I use the word camping..
There is nothing basic or uncomfortable about Sunshine Glamping Co’s services, let me explain.
Whilst chatting with Karen, we had the opportunity to look under the bonnet of this clever business. Wow, were we in for a surprise. Even with two levels of storage in her warehouse, it is completely jammed packed to the gunnel to cater for every single detail you could possibly imagine.
From a variety of different lighting options depending on the mood you are trying to create, to top quality beds and bedding.
Not to mention picnic gear, gift baskets, even wooden outdoor games to help entertain your guests.
It seems Sunshine Glamping Co can cater to your every whim!
But in my opinion, the real magic begins when none of your guests have to drive home or even back to town to their accommodation.
Glamping-Sunshine Coast Weddings
Maleny and surrounds boast some of the most stunning locations in South East Queensland. It is a vast region with rolling hills, hidden valleys and breathtaking vistas. All of which are perfect for the photos of your special day, but not so good at the end of the night when your guests need to start making their way back (sometimes through thick fog) to their accommodations.
By hiring the services of Karen and Linda (her Mum and business partner) you won’t need to worry about any of that. Instead of having to drive back to their beds for the night, your guests will be relaxing back in their beautiful, fully decked-out bell tents and snoozing ready to continue the party the next morning at your location.

You don’t have to worry about anything. From the moment you make the booking with Sunshine Glamping Co. they take over. They deliver all the equipment and stay to set everything up. Right down to making the beds and arranging the flowers. They then come back after the event, pack everything down and whisk it away leaving, to quote “nothing but footprints”.

I love just how much Karen and Linda love their business. We must have been there for an hour and I don’t think they stopped smiling the whole time as they showed us around and shared stories while they explained how their business operates. They are all about the detail and making sure you have a luxury experience you will never forget. I find it so inspiring when businesses take such pride in the smallest details to make your experience memorable.
Glamping fun from Brisbane to Gympie
Another tick for Sunshine Glamping Co is the area they cover. Whether you live in the city or the country, they can cater for your events, as far afield as Gympie, and down to Brisbane. Can you imagine the fun of a kid’s slumber party done in style. That’s a party they will never forget! All you need is the space in your backyard, Sunshine Glamping Co will come in, create the magic and disappear while the fun takes place.
The possibilities are endless.
